Alexander Overington is a composer, producer & sound designer from New York City. His music can be heard across the airwaves and on podcasts via Radiolab, 2 Dope Queens, The Daily, Nancy, & Radiolab Presents: More Perfect, where as technical director his work received a Webby Award for “Best Sound Design/Musical Score”. Before joining More Perfect, Alex co-created and produced the Peabody Award-winning podcast Meet the Composer for New York Public Radio’s WQXR. As a recording engineer, he started his career apprenticing under Valgeir Sigurðsson and Ben Frost at Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavik, Iceland, developing genre-fluid approaches to music production that continue to resonate in his work today.

Recent projects span a wide range of collaborations including work on albums with Anohni—“Hopelessness” (Rough Trade), Alarm Will Sound—“Splitting Adams” (Cantaloupe Music), David Virelles—“Antenna” (ECM) & Roomful of Teeth—“Partita for 8 Voices: Remixes” (New Amsterdam). Alex attended Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, where he earned dual degrees in music composition and Technology in Music & Related Arts (T.I.M.A.R.A) while studying with Lewis Nielson, Tom Lopez & David Lang.
